The mid-term legislative elections in Argentina handed Javier Milei a political and symbolic victory of historic significance. After two years of government marked by radical reforms, institutional clashes and deep resistance, the Argentine people have chosen to renew and strengthen their trust in their president.
It is not just a vote of approval: it is a clear mandate to continue, with more strength and legitimacy, the project of economic and moral renaissance that Milei launched in December 2023.

Two years of confrontation and reform

From the very beginning, Milei had to govern under extremely difficult conditions: an economy devastated by years of triple-digit inflation, a political system paralysed by clientelism and corporations, and a state apparatus incapable of reform.
Yet, in these two years, his government has had the courage to tackle the structural knots that no one had ever wanted to unravel: the drastic reduction of public spending, the liberalisation of markets, the deregulation of key sectors and an unprecedented fight against bureaucracy and corruption.
Milei imposed a new political grammar, breaking with the hypocritical language of Peronism and with welfarism as an instrument of consensus. He put back at the centre the concept of merit, responsibility and individual freedom, affirming that dignity is not won with subsidies, but with work and autonomy.
It has been a painful and controversial path, but not without results: inflation, although still high, has begun to fall; foreign investment has begun to grow again; and Argentina’s international image has been profoundly transformed, returning to that of a serious, credible country and reliable partner of the free world.

A Parliament that will now no longer be able to block change

The political significance of this victory goes beyond the numbers. Until now, most of Milei’s reforms had come up against a hostile Congress, dominated by the Peronist opposition and its cross-party alliances.
Yesterday’s elections radically change this scenario: for the first time, the government will have a solid and consistent majority, able to pass the most incisive measures of its programme without being subjected to blackmail or obstructionism.
It is a turning point. Argentina thus enters a new political phase: that of the full implementation of reforms, economic stabilisation and definitive opening towards global markets and theWest.
Milei’s ‘liberal revolution’ is no longer an experiment: it has become an institutional process, supported by popular vote and parliamentary consensus.

A new Western South America

The impact of this shift goes beyond the borders of Argentina.
With the recent election of a liberal president also in Bolivia (Rodrigo Paz), the South American continent seems to be heading towards a new season of openness, pragmatism and freedom.
For the first time in decades, two key countries in the region are placing themselves on a common axis: that of a clearly pro-Western foreign policy, based on economic integration, the defence of democratic values and increasingly close cooperation with Washington, Brussels and NATO.
This rapprochement with the West is not only geopolitical, but cultural and moral. It is the reaffirmation of the idea that prosperity comes from freedom, that social justice is not built against the market but through it, and that the state must be an arbiter, not a master.

The profound meaning of a victory

Milei’s victory marks the political maturation of a people that has decided to turn over a new leaf, choosing freedom no longer as a dream, but as a concrete project of government.
It is not the victory of one man, but of an idea: the idea that freedom, reason and individual responsibility are the necessary condition for any genuine progress.
In a world where authoritarian regimes advance and democracies often falter in their self-confidence, seeing a South American country rediscover the deeper meaning of being Western is a breath of fresh air for the entireWest.

The West regains a voice in the Global South

Milei’s victory is an Argentine success, but also a global signal.
The West finds in South America a new voice, proud and consistent with its principles.
Argentina once again becomes not only a free nation, but a nation that chooses to be on the side of freedom.
With Milei, and with the new liberal leadership emerging in Bolivia, South America can finally become the advanced frontier of a new West: more aware, more united and more courageous in defending the values that define it.
Change is no longer a promise: it is underway, and the free world can only look forward to it.
